Review: Qatar Airways Al Mourjan – The Garden Business Lounge (DOH)
I’ve visited the Al Mourjan Lounge in DOH a few time in the past, but to be quite honest, I felt it was one of the most overrated lounges. It was mostly just a big space that felt bland and empty.
But, with the new addition of The Garden, I was excited to try out the newer lounge, and I enjoyed my time there!
How to get to Al Mourjan The Garden
A Business/First Class ticket for Qatar Airways or their Oneworld partners flight is required to access Al Mourjan The Garden.
The lounge is situated in the newer north terminal expansion of the airport. It would take 5-10 minutes of walk from the original Al Mourjan or DOH’s prominent giant teddy bear.
The lounge’s sign is small, but a big Louis Vuitton logo will help you find it. Simply present your valid boarding pass to the staff and go up the elevator to get into the lounge.
Inside Al Mourjan The Garden
Al Mourjan The Garden is massive with around 7390sqm of space. There’s plenty of seats with a good amount of plants as decors which liven up the atmosphere compared to the original Al Mourjan lounge.
Some seats overlook The Orchard, which is DOH’s indoor garden that maybe took inspiration from SIN’s The Jewel from design standpoint.
Around the back of the lounge is the Dior Spa which I didn’t try, and it’s probably very expensive.
Al Mourjan – The garden boasts many facilities that I’ll try to include most of them. Some facilities during my visit were still under construction.
Louis Vuitton Lounge
Starting with the most prominent facility found just as I stepped out of the elevator, is the dome-shaped Louis Vuitton Lounge. I was in the lounge at 2am, so it was pretty much empty.
There’s a bar area once you enter, and the area is packed with furniture with colorful designs.
Dining Halls
Food option is plentiful in the lounge. There’s a patisserie, buffet counters, sushi bar, and more. You can also order a la carte hot food and drinks from QR menus found on the tables. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner would have their own menus as well.
Game Room
There’s also a game room with multiple PlayStation setups, billiard table, and foosball table.
Quiet Room (Sleeping Room)
The nap room is done on a first come first serve basis. You’d need to check in with a staff working at the front of the quiet rooms, and they would then escort you to your designated space when available.
The quiet room includes a space for storage with bottles of water and a mini fridge around the desk area.
However, I was not a fan of the chair bed. The curvy shape made it hard for me to get comfortable rest. They really could’ve done with a twin bed, which the room would have space for!
Prayer Room
Prayer room is available that include feet washing station.
Men’s Bathroom
The bathroom is very similar to the ones in Al Mourjan.
Shower Room
I managed to try out the shower, whcih was nice. The Diptyque amenities had pleasant smell.
Gym
The gym is small with just treadmills and few dumbbells. There’s also a spa facility where you may pay certain services.
Conclusion
The new Al Mourjan – The Garden lounge is fantastic to spend your layover in DOH. I much prefer The Garden compared to the original Al Mourjan due to the aesthetics, frontal view of The Orchard, and more impressive facilities. Though the nap room’s chair bed made it tough to get some sleep. Still, I would visit The Garden rather than the Al Mourjan Business Lounge to hopefully check out more facilities that are to be open. I’d love to compare it to the Al Safwa First Class some time in foreseeable future.
