Capital One Lounge DFW Sign

Review: Capital One Lounge Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW)

Airport lounges that can be accessed through credit card benefits are typically not things to write home about, especially Priority Pass lounges. But, the Capital One Lounge in DFW managed to be one of the best lounges I’ve visited, and I was glad to tried it out before I downgraded my Capital One Venture X.

Capital One Lounge DFW Location

The Capital One Lounge at DFW is located near Gate D22. Gate D22 is accessible through the airport’s Skylink. Stop at Terminal D, Gates D23-D40 for the nearest station to the lounge.

Then, follow the signs on the way to Capital One Lounge. You’ll then see a place with Capital One Lounge sign. It’s hard to miss. Enter the place, and take the elevator up to the lounge’s reception desk.

You can gain access to the lounge by:

  • Having the Venture X Card (unlimited access, plus 2 guests free). Authorized users also get unlimited access
  • Having the Venture/Spark Card (2 visits per year, plus 2 guests free). Authorized users get 2 visits as well. Additional visits would cost $45 extra.
  • Non-cardholders must pay $65 for access. Guests would also have to pay the same fee as well except for children under 2 years old.
  • A valid boarding pass must be presented, and the departure time must be at most 3 hours before

Capital One Lounge DFW- Seating

Seatings are plentiful with mixtures of sofas, chairs, and stools for different needs. The vibe of the lounge felt luxurious, but homey with easy-on-the-eyes light wood designs and simple artworks.

The best seats in the house are most likely the ones facing directly to the runway. Though, not most suitable for eating, they offer great views!

A cozy bar is also present. All drinks there are complimentary except for few premium drinks on the top shelf.

Capital One Lounge DFW- Food & Beverages

The lounge offers a plethora of options when it comes to food and drinks. First, there’s the to-go fridge with packaged sandwiches, salads, desserts, and water that you can grab to go for your upcoming flight. Of course, nothing prevents you from consuming them inside the lounge. I find the chicken salad sandwich to be delicious.

Other than cold food, you can also get some hot coffee or tea to-go.

If you prefer cold coffee, then they’re there too.

If you just want light snacks, then you can take away some nuts as well. I recommend the Cajun spiced nuts on the far left.

The desserts and pastries were great!

I enjoyed how the food are prepared inside miniature cooking pots. How adorable! The staples for this lounge seems to be the Korean brisket bibimbap, mac & cheese (with bacon), and potato lentil soup.

On the opposite side of the “hot food wall”, there’s specialty dish that will be different depending on when you visit. This one, I had the Wild Mushroom Cauliflower Rice.

The main drinks in the lounge are prepared in diner-style taps. Very unique!

My favorite food of the lounge was the bibimbap. But, I found that there really wasn’t any bad food in the lounge, which was awesome!

Capital One Lounge DFW- Relaxation & Cycling Rooms

The lounge has 2 wellness rooms. First, being the relaxation room where you can take a 20 minute nap. The relaxation room must be reserved at the reception.

The relaxation pod has its own timer, and it will play soothing audio to help you get some shut-eye. But, if you find that distracting, you can turn the volume all the way down.

The lounge also has a cycling room with Peloton bikes and yoga mats. I didn’t get to try it, but it’d be interesting to workout with the runway view. You need to see the reception to be able to use the room.

Capital One Lounge DFW- Shower Room & Restroom

The lounge offers 1 shower room that can be reserved from the reception. You’ll get a text whenever one’s available. You’re limited to 30 minutes of shower time, so be mindful of the time limit.

It comes with a Dyson hair dryer.

Shampoo, conditioner, and soap are provided in water-soluble film pods.

The lounge has 4 separate bathrooms. Since space is limited, it’d be normal to wait a bit before you can use it.

I find the flush button on some of the bathrooms to be cracked, showing some wear and tear to the lounge. Still, they don’t really detract from how good the lounge is, especially from one you can access with a credit card.

Conclusion

The Capital One Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW) is one of the best lounges in the US that you can access with a credit card. The food is one of the better ones I’ve had, even compared to some of the international business class lounges I’ve visited. Compared to the Centurion Lounges I’ve been to, the Capital One Lounge has been the most impressive so far. It’s a definite steps above most Priority Pass lounges as well.

Be warned though, since it’s a lounge that can be accessed with a credit card, it can get crowded very quick. The staff do very good job in clearing out empty food trays quickly to clear up space as soon as possible when people leave the lounge.

Some aspects of the lounge are showing its wears and tears already, like the bathroom flush buttons. But, it doesn’t detract the overall quality of the lounge. I’d love to check out the other Capital One Lounges, and would be excited to visit them if the lounge in DFW sets the benchmark for Capital One Lounges.
