Review: Sapar Lounge Domestic Terminal, Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport (NQZ)

After spending 3 nights in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, and experiencing some awesome hotels there including the St. Regis and Ritz-Carlton, I made my way down to Almaty, the final city of my Central Asia trip in the afternoon. I wanted to save time and flew there. In the meantime, I checked out the Sapar Lounge at the Domestic Terminal (Terminal 2) of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport (NQZ) while waiting for my flight.

The lounge is located after security checkpoint, and you’d need to make your way to Gate D6 to find it. The entrance will have the lounge sign with beautiful Kazakh designs around it with stanchions. You can’t miss it.

Inside Sapar Lounge Domestic Terminal, NQZ

I went in with my Priority Pass that I got from my Capital One Venture X. It’s a very small lounge, and I was the only one there. It looks clean with its minimalism decor.

Wi-Fi password is on the tables.

There are many reclining chairs inside the lounge, but there are stools and normal chairs by the kids’ area if you want a better posture for work.

There’s also a kids’ area with a play kitchen, dioramas, and stuffed animals.

There are food and drinks to grab. I only helped myself to a bottle of coke since I plan to grab dinner later in Almaty instead. But, the food options look half decent. Sadly, there’s no sugar-free options.

There’s no bathroom inside the lounge, but you can go outside and there will be one next to the lounge’s entrance.

Conclusion

The Sapar Lounge at the Domestic Terminal of NQZ is nothing glamorous, but it’s simple and clean and is to be expected for a domestic lounge. It provides Wi-Fi and a bright space to get work done and get some snacks and drinks in before your flight.
